Understanding the Depth of This Grief
Infant loss can include miscarriage early or late in pregnancy, stillbirth, the death of a baby shortly after birth, or SID (sudden infant death). However it happens, it is not “just” a medical event, it is the loss of a whole future. Those outside of the pregnancy, describe this grief as invisible. It is valid.
You might feel shock, numbness, anger, guilt, or a deep emptiness. You may question your body, your decisions, or your faith. These reactions are normal responses to an experience that is anything but normal. Grief holds no timeline and is individual. Sometimes it expresses itself in gentle tears, other times it is like an ocean wave.
