Loss of a Dream

Shattered Dreams

August 10, 20262 min read

When life goes wrong and our dreams are shattered, we feel hopeless. The loss of an infant or child can turn your world upside down to the point where you cannot do anything during your day. The questions continue to haunt your mind...What did I do wrong? Why my baby? Why did this have to happen? Why would God give me her to take her away? None of this makes sense.

We can lose our faith and hope in God because it feels like our world that was promising is destroyed. We don't see how it will ever be the same. And we may not be able to get answers for the questions we have. There is truth that sometimes things just go wrong in life- for no reason. Good and bad happen to all people. Grief this deep takes time to work through. When future dreams of how we thought our life would be are destroyed, it takes time to accept that and adjust our lives as we heal from the intense pain we are experiencing.

You will heal. You will not forget your baby. Another baby will not replace this one, for she was who you already loved. Over time, pain will become less and you will learn how to cherish the fact that she was yours. Your memory and love for your child will aways remain in your heart.

Give yourself time and support. Joining a group of others who have lost a baby or child may be beneficial because these others will be going through the same feelings and emotions that you are and will understand you and your grief.

If you feel you need additional support from those who understand go to griefshare.org and register for a Grief Share group. We offer several groups at Family Life Church, New Oxford, PA. Step out today and receive the help you need to heal.
